The Journey Inside by Intel~A teacher Freebee

My post today is thanks to Jack.
I read his most recent post in Wildcat Drafting and followed his link to Intel's 21st century teaching resources. I thought I'd continue with Jack's opening---and share one of the resources I found could be very useful in the classroom! Thanks Jack--I'll buy you a cup of coffee at our next class!

From the website:
"The Journey InsideSM is a collection of 35 interactive, online lessons for students to learn about technology, computers, and society. Many of the lessons utilize interactive, media-rich Flash* activities, virtual field trips, and videos demonstrating the ideas discussed to guide students to an increased understanding of the world of technology. Students, teachers, and anyone interested can work on the lessons and activities at their own pace to complete any or all of the six sections: Introduction to Computers, Circuits and Switches, Digital Information, Microprocessors, The Internet, and Technology and Society. Detailed instructional strategies written for the teacher extend the lessons and key concepts in ‘the classroom. There is no need to register. The curriculum is available for free, from any computer that is connected to the Internet. Students can work on the lessons from the classroom, during free moments, or even from home."

What I like is that teachers can use these Flash lessons not just for teaching computers, math or science, but for social studies & culture, history, or language arts! 5th graders could learn what is inside their computers (modified for their level)!

Take a look at the lesson one video about the history of computers.

So you're an Intel'igent teacher too?

It is a great site full of resources. What amazed me was the global'ness of the information. We here in USA don't think much about technology in developing nations. I guess we should. All those widows of african diplomats trying to get money out of their countries.

Wow, Diane this is another great website and link that I have never seen. It is full of great tools and resources for all ages. I love the Flash lessons. I agree with you that it is great that you can use it to teach so many subjects and content areas!

Great website! Full of information for students of all levels. I enjoyed “explore the curriculum” and “instructional strategies.” Children today use computers with ease sometimes; however, they should understand how a computer works and the computer as a machine. This website would definitely help students better understand computers.

Hi Diane. I explored the link for "Intel's 21st century teaching resources," and there are some great resources. I even found some lessons for foreign language!
